Nile Cole, 87, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Jess Colegrove, Dr. Randy Cotton and Rev. Scott Kirkland, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, December 23, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.He was born May 20, 1929 in Knott, Texas and married Barbara Wright December 21, 1951 in Big Spring, Texas.Nile graduated in 1946 from Mt. Zion High School in Mt. Zion, Georgia. He served in the United States Army from February 1951 to January 1953. He worked at the United States Post Office as the window clerk for 36 years, then worked at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home from 1986 to 2012. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gospel singing. Nile had a strong love for God and family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchild.Nile was a longtime member of Birdwell Lane Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was currently a member of Trinity Baptist Church.Nile is survived by his wife, Barbara Cole of Big Spring, a daughter, Dianne Dickerson and husband, Bert of Big Spring; a sister, Joyce Grizzard and husband, Charles of San Angelo; a brother, Maxie Cole and wife, Sue of Norman, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Matthew Posey and Erin Stephens both of Big Spring; a great grandson, Liam Cole Stephens of Big Spring; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee and Essie Pettus Cole; three sisters, Eloise Grizzard, Reba Parrish, and Virginia Pachall; and four brothers, Woodrow Cole, Tommy Cole, Kile Cole, and L.C. Cole.The family suggests memorials to Trinity Baptist Church, 1701 E.
