Nancy Balke Roderick

Nancy Balke Roderick, 81, of Midland, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. The family will receive friends to celebrate her life from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Friday, June 2nd, 2023 at The Branch at Nalley-Pickle & Welch.

Nancy was born on October 24, 1941 in Luling, Texas to Frances and Arnold Balke. As a young child, she lived in Karnes City, Texas,  and Premont, Texas before settling in Midland around 10. Nancy was a cheerleader at San Jacinto Jr High School. She graduated from Midland High School in 1960.

Everyone who met Nancy would say she was one of a kind. She was fun loving, kind hearted and generous to every person and animal she met. She enjoyed traveling all over the world and hosting family at every holiday. She loved watching Texas Tech sports and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Nancy established her own business in the early 1990’s managing salons for the elderly which she continued until her retirement in 2020.

Nancy is survived by her two children, Ricky (Laura) Roderick and Terri (Shane) Bippert both of Midland, Texas; her sisters Sue Roberson of Lubbock, Texas and Ginger Resnik of Wichita, Kansas; her two grandchildren Faith Bippert and Spencer Bippert both of Midland, Texas and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Frances Balke, her sister JoAnn Weathered, and niece Glyna Watts.

The family would like to express their gratitude towards Gentiva Hospice, the Midland Memorial Hospital nurses who helped care for her while she was there as well as the staff as Polo Park that made her last days enjoyable.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lone Star Animal Sanctuary in her honor.
