Ps 73:26 My flesh & my heart fail; but God is my strength
Faye entered her eternal rest after 97 well-lived years on Oct 28,2024. She was strong, dignified & determined through her final earthly days, traits that marked her character throughout her life. Her loving family celebrates her freedom from a tired and worn body and her reunion in Heaven with the many loved ones she lost along the way. We are confident that Jesus welcomed home this sweet angel and that we will see her again.
Faye was born to Barney and Catherine Hopper on January 5, 1927 in Martin Co TX. Her family is 7th generation Martin Co residents. She became a mother at the tender age of ten when her mother passed leaving four children, Faye being oldest. She was born for this role. She was educated at Courtney then Cisco after her mom’s passing. She was a cosmetologist by profession. She married Stanton White on August 30, 1947 and together raised three children.
Faye was a self-taught vegetable gardener, planted, tended, harvested and preserved the bounty but also loved her flowers. She made sure everyone had heirloom petunias. A talented cook, we all had our favorites, and she delighted in serving us. Absolutely a Proverbs 31 woman, family was her everything.
She was a devoted member of St Mary Street Church of Christ in Stanton and was baptized into our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ along with her daughters on March 25, 1967. She passed into Glory holding her pink cross.
Faye survived many hard losses in her life but did so with great strength and dignity. In addition to her parents and three siblings, J V, Gertie and Colie she lost her husband of forty-nine years plus thirty additional years his widow and her beloved son, Larry White.
Survivors are her loving daughters Debbie Brown and Doris (Bobby) Holland, her daughter-in-law Karen White, her adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren, also two great great grandsons.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Rusty White, Brad Holland, Tim Melton, Dennis Melton and Dan McCown.
Services will be Thursday, October 31 with visitation at 9am at Gilbreath Funeral Home followed by graveside at 10:30am at Evergreen Cemetery, all in Stanton.
Memorials may be directed to Stanton ISD Education Scholarship Foundation, P O Box 730, Stanton 79782 or a charity of your choice.
