Murray Alan Gray, 74, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025. Born on September 16, 1950, Murray lived a life defined by hard work, deep compassion, and a heart as generous as they come.
A man of unwavering faith, Murray was known for his giving spirit and fun-loving nature. Whether you were family, friend, or stranger, he was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought. His warmth touched everyone he met — and no phone call ever ended without his signature farewell: “Love and kisses.”
Murray was intelligent and sharp, always up for a challenging crossword, a strong cup of Folgers coffee, and a good college football game. He had a legendary love for ice cream and tacos — a passion that might have surpassed just about anyone’s.
Murray was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tana Gray; his sister, Linda Lahrman; and his father, Joe Gray.
He leaves behind his loving mother, Georgia Gray; his daughters, Shana Gray and Casi Daugherty; and his cherished grandchildren, Zoe and Cole Daugherty.
A celebration of Murray’s life will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland, Texas, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the VFW beginning at 4:00 p.m.
“Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
— Matthew 22:37-40
Murray’s life was a living example of this scripture. His kindness, humor, and steadfast faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, and forever loved.
He’ll see you up there.
Love and kisses.
