Monte Beard, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and lifelong resident of Fort Stockton, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring. He was 77 years old.
Born on March 5, 1948, in Utopia, Texas, Monte proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1974, including a tour in Vietnam. His courage and dedication to service remained a defining part of his life.
After returning home, Monte built a long and hardworking career driving hot oilers in the oilfield. Known for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and quick wit, he never met a stranger and loved to make people laugh—often with his trademark phrase, “I’m glad you got to see me.” After retiring, he volunteered for many years with the Auxiliary at Pecos County Memorial Hospital, continuing his legacy of service to the community.

He is also survived by his son-in-law, Jason Watson; six grandchildren, Reagan Waldrip, Micheal Beard, Asheigh Sparks, Emily Diller, Zoey Watson, and Travis Watson, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Jan Luce, and her husband, Bubba Luce.
He was preceded in death by his dad, George Beard, mother Jimmie Lee Beard, sister Becky McGuairt, brother Scott Beard.
