Michel “Cowboy” McDonald, 75, of Big Spring, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022 in Odessa. He will lie in state from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm Friday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Coahoma Cemetery.
Mike was born February 21, 1947 in Big Spring, Texas to parents Marie and James McDonald. After high school, he joined the U S Navy in 1967 serving until 1971 as a Radio Operator completing several tours in Vietnam. Following discharge, he returned to Texas working as a truck driver until he retired in 2010. He had a passion for motorcycles and enjoyed the annual Sturgis Bike Rally in South Dakota. He loved fishing and being with family and friends. He never met a stranger.
He is survived by his sister: Patsy (McDonald) Brown and husband Dan of Oklahoma City and his brother: Sam McDonald and wife Lawana of Midland and nieces and nephews: Melissa Szeto of Edmond, OK, Zach Roach of Mustang, OK and Cassie Pace of Greenwood along with numerous great nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors at Canterbury.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents John (Wes) Warren and Lillie May Warren of Coahoma; his nephew Patrick McDonald of Greenwood and Diann Rentfro, companion, from Seymour.
