Michael Stephen Hecht, age 74, of Big Spring passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 8pm, Friday, March 3, 2023 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 3pm, Saturday, March 4, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery.
He was born September 29, 1948, in Peoria, Illinois and married Deborah Hockenberry on February 6, 1969 in Clarksville, TN. Michael was in the Army from 1969 to 1973, serving his country in Vietnam.
Michael was an instructor at Universal Technical Institute from 1990 to 2015, when he retired. He enjoyed model railroading as well as stamp and coin collecting. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served in numerous callings throughout his life. He was a devoted and beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah; his children: Vanessa (Jeff) Johnson, Ken Hecht, Sam (Jessica) Hecht, Sarah (Steven) Bell, Patricia (Brent) Larsen, Rebekah Hecht; his grandchildren: Tim Johnson, Holly Johnson, Amanda Kepple, Megan (Dale) Jeon, Tasha Hecht, Zander Hecht, Zavier Hecht, Morgan Hecht, Demi Hecht, Drae Miller, Deekan Miller, David Bell, Kevin (Elizabeth) Bell, Olivia Bell, Amanda Bell, Lynette Larsen, Julia Larsen, Esther Larsen, Virginia Larsen, Jason Lowder Jr., Emily Lowder, Bridget Lowder, Jacob Lowder, and Madelynn Lowder; his great-grandchildren: Charlotte Wood, Connor Wood, Vincent, Ethan, Chloe, Isabella Hecht, Mia Yunker, Violet Yunker, Kamryn Bell and Elias Bell;
his sisters: Connie (Dennis) Stockelman, Colette (Cliff) Kuykendall; and his nephews Doyle (Kelli) Sims, Ryan Stockelman and Kelly Stockelman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Hecht and Esther (Kenneth) Gardner and granddaughter Alyssa Hecht.
