Melvin “Buddy” Evans, 88 years old, of Midland, Texas passed away December 21, 2016. The family will receive guests from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, January 6, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Resthaven Memorial Park. Memorial services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. David Johnson, officiating.Melvin “Buddy” Evans was born on July, 19, 1928 in Ballinger, Texas to Melvin Marshall Evans and Sarah K. Evans. He graduated from Ballinger High School in 1947. He married former Geraldine Stanley in 1950. He serve in the Korean War, in the Air Force. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan from 1953 to 1957, where he served as a radar and radio technician. After the Air Force he went to work in the post office here in Midland, Texas, where he was instrumental in opening Graves Station over on Wadley. He retired in 1994. He loved skeet shooting and was a five time world champion. His children were Richard Evans and Keri Evans, formerly of Midland, Texas.He is survived by his grandson Matthew Evans of Midland, Texas, his brother Rex Evans of McKinney, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his wife Geraldine Stanley Evans, his son Richard Lee Evans, and daughter Keri Lynn Evans.If you wish to donate money in memory of Melvin “Buddy” Evans, please send donations to the American Heart Association.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
