Mary Lou Fierro, 61 of Midland, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:00 am on Friday, November 3, 2017, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.Mary Lou was born on April 2, 1956 in Big Spring, Texas to Francisco “Chico” and Sophia “Cruz” Rubio. She graduated from Big Spring High School, Howard College and earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from UTPB. She specialized in Human Resources Administration and Recruitment at various medical centers including Midland Memorial Hospital, Medical Center Hospital in Odessa and Brotman Medical Center in Culver City, California. After her career she enjoyed traveling, socializing with friends, she loved to dance and play bingo and game nights with friends. She looked forward to her daily walk with her loving and playful dog “Miss November.” She volunteered as a precinct worker during the local elections for the past couple of years. As the oldest sibling, Mary cared deeply for the well-being of her siblings and family members.Without a doubt she would say her greatest love and achievement would be her two wonderful and loving sons, Chris and Andy. Chris followed in his mom’s footsteps working in the medical field fulfilling his goal of becoming a Registered Nurse, getting his nursing degree from El Centro College. Andy went on to acquire a PHD in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University. He works as an electrical engineer for Sandia Natural Labs.She is survived by her husband George; two sons, Christopher Fierro and Dr. Andrew Fierro and his wife Lori; mother, Sophia; sisters, Patsy Rubio and Debra Rubio; brother, Ysa Rubio; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.She is preceded in death by her father, Francisco (Chico) Rubio; brothers, Frankie Rubio, Robert Rubio, Fred Rubio; baby sister, Delma Rubio; grandparents, Ysa and Maria Mendoza ,and Felix and Magdalena Rubio.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, YMCA of Midland, Midland Fair Havens or any charity of your choice.The family would like to express their gratitude towards the nurses, doctors and medical staff at Midland Memorial Hospital for their loving and caring support, and family and friends for being there for the family during this difficult time.
