Mary Lorene (McClane) Greer, of Midland, passed on to Heaven on December 18, 2021, at the age of 94 years. A graveside service will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Monahans Memorial Cemetery in Monahans,
Mary was born on September 4, 1927, in Borger, Texas, the middle daughter of the late Fletch and Adona McClane. Mary attended Spring Creek Elementary and Borger High School. On August 3, 1943, she married Lou Greer. They were married for 63 years. Mary and Lou had two sons, Lucian Franklin, Jr., and Roy Dean.
Mary and Lou started their marriage in Claremore, Oklahoma where their son, Lucian Jr. was born in 1944. After moving to Kermit, Texas, Roy Dean was born in 1950. Lou was employed by Haliburton in Kermit and Monahans and Mary was homemaker and mother. They moved to Midland in 1964 where they opened Greer’s Plumbing and Heating, where Mary worked for 43 years.
During their time in Kermit and Monahans Mary began to study the Bible which became her life-long passion. Her studies and the Lord’s calling led her to become a Bible teacher to teenagers in Monahans, junior high girls in Midland and the Dorcas Ladies Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Midland for more than 30 years. Mary loved the Lord Jesus of the Bible with all her heart and spent her life telling others about Him.
Preceding Mary in death were her husband, Lou, sons, Roy Dean and Lucian Jr. Mary is survived by two grandchildren, Lance Greer, and Jena Greer; eight great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and lifelong friend, like a daughter, Brenda Helmka; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of precious friends.
