Mary Beth ReddellSunday, May 2, 2010, surrounded by family and friends and lifted up by the prayers of those who could not be there, Mary Beth joined her heavenly family for an eternity of peace and joy.Mary Beth was born to Joe and Patricia (Austin) Hopkins in Mineral Wells, Texas on March 13, 1963. She grew up in Midland, Texas and was a graduate of Lee High School.She earned an Associates degree from Midland College and attended Texas Tech in Lubbock. Her twenty-two year travel industry career began at DFW as a ticket agent for American Eagle in April 1986. A week after moving to Pittsburgh, PA in October 1987, she interviewed and gained a position as a gate agent with American Airlines while walking to a departure gate at the airport. MB also worked in the Admiral's club at Miami, FL as well as at DFW. She moved to AA's Corporate Headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas where she was a senior analyst. She traveled the world frequently for business and pleasure.After being diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer in November 2004, her prognosis was grim. Mary Beth felt that only God knew when he would be ready for her and she continued to live life to the fullest. In 2005 she became involved in her first Relay for Life when because of Mary Beth, friends and co-workers formed their first team. She became the liaison for American Airlines and the American Cancer Society. She was named a Hero of Hope for the High Plains Division of the ACS in 2007. In 2009 American Airlines celebrated their 5th Relay and raised over $1,000,000.00 in 5 years for the American Cancer Society to fight the battle against this horrible disease.When MB included you in her circle of friends it meant you became a friend for life. What a circle that was and is! She always had time to reach out to add another one. Don't expect to see any pattern either. Her friends were as diverse as she was. That circle never stopped growing.Mary Beth is survived by her parents, Joe and Patricia Hopkins; brother David Hopkins; nephews, Josh Hopkins and Ryan Hopkins; niece Jaclyn Hopkins (her "mini me"); all of Midland. Other survivors are her fiancée Warren Johnston of Justin, Texas, Grandmother Mary Frances Wilson of Mineral Wells, Texas, Beautiful Stella, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends too numerous to mention.Services will be held on Friday, May 7, 2010 at Memorial Christian Church 1001 Andrews Hwy, in Midland at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Terry Rothermich (Memorial Christian Church) and Burke Brack Minister at Golf Course Road Church of Christ will preside.A Mass and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 3713 Harwood RD, Bedford, Texas. Father Kennedy will officiate.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the ACS Relay for Life, 3301 W. Freeway, Fort Worth, Texas Attn: N.E. I worked with MB for a number of years in Miami. We were all sorry when she moved back to Texas. I have recently been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and will start fighting the fight. Thanks to the time, efforts and $ raised by Relays for Life around the country and efforts like MB's, research is on-going and someday there will be a pill and a cure. I thank her for her work and will contribute on her behalf. Our local "walk" is this weekend. I'll think of her with fond memories. Thoughts and prayers are with her family for the loss way too soon of such a wonderful person.

I'm going to miss being able to pick up the phone and call or text my friend just to say, "Hey, Mur, what's up?" But I'm glad I don't have to ask how she's feeling, because I know she's dancing with the angles right now! Patricia and Joe, God blessed Mary Beth with the most wonderful parents that went above and way beyond to carry her through this journey. From "The Purpose Driven Life": God wants to use you to make a difference in the world. He wants to work through you. What matters is not the duration of your life, but the donation of it. Not how long you lived, but how you lived. I already miss you my friend, but you fulfilled your purpose...so beautifully.

MB came into my life many years ago as a customer. From there it was movies, happy hours,sunbathing, slumber parties, vacations- the list goes on and on. MB introduced me to so many people that I am happy to call my "friends" too. I am honored to have known MB and her family and friends and I will cherish our time we had together. I will miss her dearly. She is an amazing inspiration~

I will always remember Mary Beth and the antics we had when she sat with me in the 70s. She was fun, energetic, and creative. I loved to have her over to play. Always the responsible neighbor, she patiently walked me to school in the mornings, and helped me home in the afternoons all through kindergarten and 1st grade. She's the only sitter I ever had! I'm so sorry that she's gone, but I know the angels are rejoicing at her arrival. May our Heavenly Father hold her in his arms granting her the peace she deserves, and may her memory be eternal. Pat, Joe, and David, it's been a lot of years, but our hearts, prayers, and love go with you always.

MB, Brave beyond words. Rest well my friend.

I remember the day in the vault at Midland Concrete when I said to her, Hey i don't feel so good and "Thunk" i passed out! She made sure i got home safely since i was ill! That was a long time ago! I have known this family a very long time and my heart is aching for them! The comforting thing is she isn't ill anymore and we will all see her again! Rest in Peace

What a blessing and honor to call Mary Beth 'friend' all these years. Mary Beth has Always considered each day as a Blessing and a New Adventure in an extremely contagious way! I posted my immediate thoughts on your care page but as I have sat here and reflected on all our memories, one of my last ones I hope you find as funny as I do. We had just moved into our new home and MB came up. It was Halloween and the two of us were sitting in our front yard handing out candy and having a few glasses of wine. Two attractive Dads came up with their small children. As they walked away, she turned and looked at me and said " I could be a step-mom". Her wit, courage, grace, and faith I and my family will never forget. She is dancing on the streets that are golden!! All our love and prayers to each and everyone of you.

I was so very lucky to have Mary Beth as a friend. She was always there for me and my family to listen, give advice, hugs, support. But most of all you could always count on Mary Beth for a good laugh. We all called her the Queen of Wit. Yep. She ruled. She was beautiful inside and out. Independent. Strong. A fighter to the end. She left an impact on everyone she met. The world lost something when she passed - we all lost so much. Get ready Heaven!

Mary Beth is one of the bravest people I know. She never complained about what she was going through. She always had good spirits and made you feel that all was going to be fine. I will miss her but am so happy she is with GOD now and no longer suffering. I will see her again someday ... and I am looking forward to that. My thoughts and prayers go to the Hopkins family. MB fought a brave battle and her smile and laughter will be greatly missed, but she is smiling down on us and saying I still remember what you did in MSY.. we always had so much fun!!

My heart is so heavy for the Hopkins Family. Mary Beth and her family supported me when I lost my husband. Mary Beth meant the world to me. She was my best friend for life. I was so blessed to have her in my life. I pray that God guides you, and comforts you in your time of need.
