Jayne was born on July 9, 1936, in Snyder, TX to John and Loretta Voss. She was doted on as the first girl in her generation and grew up in Snyder working on her father’s farm. In addition to raising her own kids with her first husband, they kept numerous foster children, changing the trajectory of those children’s lives with love and support. Her house was the hangout for the church youth, especially after football games. She was active and a leader in many charitable organizations including the Hospital Auxiliary, the Rotary Club, Beta Sigma Phi, United Way, and others. As an accountant, she was frequently the treasurer for many of the nonprofits she participated in. As part of her work, she advocated for and got NICU beds and a memory unit established at the local hospital. She continued to touch lives with her second husband, running a food bank, working with the Shriner’s hospitals, and supporting the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home. She served in the Texas State Guard for over 20 years. She loved travel, plays, Alabama football, and family, and will be remembered as a strong mentor and friend.
Jayne is survived by her children; Lettye Holland-Tubbs of Midland, Len Partain of Andrews, and wife LeeAnn, Angela Philley of Austin, and stepson Rob Simpson of Amarillo and wife Joanna; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren as well as many other loving family and friends.
Jayne is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R Simpson, her parents, John and Loretta Voss, her brother, Bill Voss, her sister, Carl Ann Preston, a step-daughter, Wanda Simpson, a grandson Larry Scott Partain, three sons-in-law, Paul Holland, Richard Tubbs, and Randy “Bear” Philley.
