Marion Earl Causey, Jr. passed away on May 9, 2024, in Midland, Texas, at the age of 90.
He was born on December 7, 1933, in Centreville, Mississippi to Marion Causey, Sr. and Ora Lee Causey. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Patsy Ann Causey, his two sons, Mark (Deanne) Causey of Rowlett, TX and Gary (Ginger) Causey of Midland, TX, his four grandchildren: Dr. Jordan (Michael) Seaback of Winston-Salem, NC, Jared Causey of Royse City, TX, Alex (Hannah) Causey of Austin, TX, and Travis Causey of Midland, TX, and his brother Wilton (Rebekah) Causey of Huntsville, AL, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Marion Causey, Sr. and Ora Lee Causey.
A graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a BS in Geology and the University of Tennessee with an MS in Geology, he then enlisted in the Navy and was based at Naval Station Great Lakes where he was Honorman of his platoon.
Marion began his successful career as a Petroleum Geologist for Phillips Oil Company in Midland in 1958. He went on to work for Mobil, Pubco, and Mesa, ultimately becoming an Independent Consultant from 1985-1989. He realized his dream in 1989 and founded his own company, MEC Petroleum Corporation, where he served as President until his passing. He was a member of American Association Petroleum Geologists (55 years of membership), West Texas Geological Society, and Permian Basin Petroleum Pioneers.
Since 1970, he was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Midland. He enjoyed the camaraderie of the “Liar’s Club” with fellow ushers, actively participating in the David Sunday School department and teaching 9th grade boys Sunday School.
In his free time, Marion enjoyed his mountain home in Ruidoso, attending Lee Rebel Football games with his best friend J.P., exercising, and tinkering around the house.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 5:00pm-6:30pm, with a celebration to start at 6:30pm.
