Maria Trinidad Lira Lopez, 78, of Garden City, Texas went home to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ September 28, 2014 surrounded by her family. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery. Born May 22, 1936 in Allende, Coahuila, Mexico, she was the daughter of Vicente and Dolores Lira. She then entered into Holy Matrimony March 26, 1960 to Jose Maria Lopez. She was a devoted wife and homemaker for 54 years. Trini became a U.S. citizen April 8, 1993. She was a resident of Glasscock County for over 52 years and a lifelong devoted member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and a member of the Guadalupana’s. She loved to sew and make quilts for members of her family, cook, and be around family and friends. She had a servant’s heart evident by opening her heart to individuals and treating them like they were members of her family. She would also devotedly pray for others. Survived by her husband, Jose Maria Lopez of Garden City; her children, Juanita and Juan Pablo Martinez of Floydada, Martha Lopez Gomez of Odessa, Jose and Grace Lopez of Odessa, Hilario and Sandra Lopez of San Antonio, Dolores and Charles Solley of Midland, and Bill and Maria Lopez of Odessa; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild, and many, many cherished God-children. She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. She will be deeply missed by her family. The family suggests memorials be made to the Glasscock County Volunteer Fire and EMS Department, P.O. Box 112, Garden City, Texas, 79739.
