Maria Aurelia Martinez, 78, of Midland, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 surrounded by her family. Rosary will be held at 7:00PM on Monday, January 31, 2022 at The Branch at NPW. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00PM on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at San Miguel Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Maria was born on June 26, 1943 to Magdalena and Rosalio Tovar in Mexico. Maria was a beautiful and precious soul who devoted her life to her children. She spent all of her life caring for her family. Maria was a caring, hardworking and devotional God-fearing woman. Maria was a proud member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. One of her greatest accomplishment was becoming a naturalized citizen and a proud American. Maria was an extremely accomplished seamstress, a wonderful cook, a talented artist and loved gardening. She would welcome you with a smile, a hug and refused to let you leave her home without eating. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her heart and joy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three precious daughters and her loving son in law Jose Azuaje.
She is survived by her daughters, Jovita Azuaje, Juanita Jacquez (Tony Jacquez), Mary Watson (Sean Watson), Lupe Guevara (David Guevara), Susy Finney (Randy Finney), Margarita Strahan (Robert Strahan). Her sons, Rafael Martinez (Gabriela Martinez), Roque Martinez (Geneva Lujan), Javier Martinez (Stephanie Martinez). She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren who adore her with all of their hearts. Fly high Mom until we meet again.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Azuaje, Jose Luis Zuñiga, Alex C. Martinez, David Guevara, Jr., Andy Guevara, Anthony Finney, Sammy Venegas, Robert W. Strahan II, Natalia Martinez, Diego Martinez, Alejandra Martinez and Javier Martinez.
The family would like to express their dearest gratitude to all of the staff at The Village at Manor Park Younger Center for their love and care of our Mom and Grandma. You will always hold a dear spot in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Village at Manor Park Younger Center Alzheimer’s Care Center or Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Midland, TX.
