Margarita Almeida Carrasco was born on December 9, 1934, in Zacatecas, Zacatecas, Mexico, where she grew up with her six siblings. She was the beloved daughter of Jose Almeida and Maria Eduvigis Sifuentes. A rosary will take place at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Margarita met her husband, Sipriano Guevara Carrasco, in Juarez, Mexico, while visiting a family friend with her mother. Sipriano, attending college in El Paso, Texas, was staying with relatives in Juarez—who happened to be close family friends of Margarita’s. During her visits, they would go dancing and attend parties together. After Margarita returned to Zacatecas, they maintained a long-distance relationship through letters until they married on June 10, 1962, in Zacatecas.
After their marriage, the newlyweds moved to Midland, TX, where Margarita gave birth to their first daughter, Linda, in 1963. A year later, in 1964, their son Ralph was born, followed by their daughter Vickie in 1965. Throughout these busy years, Margarita was a devoted wife and mother, balancing family life with the demands of running a new business, Marios Spanish Inn, which she and her husband operated together for 35 years. Margarita’s love extended beyond her children, as she was also a loving grandmother to five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Margarita had a gift for keeping everyone laughing with her hilarious jokes; she was truly one of a kind. Full of life and a core member of the family, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Aside from spending time with her family, her favorite pastime was her weekly “Margarita Thursdays” (or as she called it, “Therapy”) with her close friends. Alongside her fun-loving side, Margarita was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith and her church.
Survivors include her daughter Linda Garcia and her husband of 43 years Chris Garcia and 4 children, Juan Alfredo, Christopher Joe, Sarah Marie, Victoria Andrea, and great-granddaughter Eleanor Snow; her son Ralph Carrasco and wife Marguerite Pavsidis and daughter Nika; her daughter Vickie Kolodetsky and husband of 19 years Bill Kolodetsky.
Margarita’s charming personality was infectious, and she will be truly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Pallbearers will be William Kolodetsky, Juan Alfred Garcia, Christopher Joe Garcia, and Roland Garcia.
