M.V. Armour 86 of Midland, Texas earned his final set of wings on May 10, 2024.
M.V. was born March 2, 1938, to Millard Turman and Vada Melvine Armour in San Angelo, Texas.
While growing up in San Angelo, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working alongside his father and uncles. In junior high and high school, M.V. caught the acting bug. He acted in many plays in high school, college and in community theater.
He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1956 and enrolled at San Angelo College briefly before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1960 where he obtained the rank of Sargeant. He served in the Marine Corps reserve until 1966.
M.V. then went back to San Angelo College where he met the love of his life, Lizbeth Ann Newton. They married in 1967 and moved to Midland, Texas where they raised three children.
M.V. began his career in oilfield automation when he moved to Midland. He worked for Tex-Mex Meter Service and Basin Meter Service before eventually starting his own company, Armour Automation, which he ran until he was 84 years old.
He later achieved a lifelong goal by receiving his associate degree from Midland College and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
With his love of music and always wanting to perform, M.V. began doing an Elvis and Johnny Cash tribute show later in life. He would perform at festivals and once put on a show at The Globe Theater in Odessa, Texas.
One of his greatest passions in life was flying airplanes. M.V. obtained his pilot’s license at an early age and has flown thousands of hours in many different airplanes. For many years, he flew a private charter plane for Aero Vesta and flew an air ambulance, possibly saving countless lives.
M.V. had many friends and work associates that he would enjoy swapping stories with while having coffee and breakfast with friends at Whataburger most mornings.
He was a member of the Downtown Lions Club and enjoyed serving breakfast at the Annual Pancake Jamboree.
M.V. is preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Vada Armour and his wife Lizbeth Ann Armour.
He is survived by his son Scott Armour and daughter-in-law Kate Armour of Arlington, Texas, his son Lance Armour and daughter-in-law Marcie Armour of Midland, Texas, his daughter Amy Armour and son-in-law Scott Unruh of Midland, Texas, his grandchildren, Teagan Boyd along with her husband Mc Boyd, Landon King, and Brett Armour all of Midland, Texas, his sister Ruby Fay Waren of Amarillo, Texas, nephew, Jim Waren of Amarillo, Texas and niece Jennifer Waren Gertonson of Amarillo, Texas.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff and residents of Cimmaron Place assisted living center for making his final days enjoyable.
A visitation will begin at 4pm on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. Services will be held at Fairmont Park Church of Christ, 3813 Midland Dr., Midland Texas. Monday May 20, 2024, at 2pm. The burial will occur at 3pm at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4616 North Big Spring Street, Midland, Texas. The pallbearers are Scott Armour, Lance Armour, Scott Unruh, Landon, King, Brett Armour, and Jim Waren.
