Luis Rios Sr, 72, of Big Spring died Saturday, December 9, 2017 in a local hospital.Rosary services will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.Luis was born October 3, 1945 in Lohn, Texas to Porfirio and Vicenta Rios. He moved to Big Spring in 1949 from Brady, Texas. He farmed until he met Erlinda Escovedo in 1962. They married November 14, 1964. They had just celebrated their 53rd anniversary. After they married Luis began a new trade of bricklaying. He contracted for many years and continued to work until the time of his death. He was well known for his masonry skills that he passed on to his sons and grandsons.Luis was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. He was a cursillista and belonged to the St. Vincent de Paul Society as well as being a third degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Luis was loved by everybody whose lives he touched. He is already greatly missed.Luis is survived by his wife, Erlinda Escovedo Rios; four sons, Luis Rios, Jr. and wife, Janie, Jacob Rios and wife, Stephanie, Teddy Rios and TJ Rios and wife, Sindy; a daughter, Nancy Rios, all of Big Spring; 39 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren; brother, Joe Rios; two sisters, Juanita Roberts and Ophelia Rios; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Rios; parents, Porfirio and Vicenta Rios; two sisters, Manuela Galindo and Olivia Escovedo; two brothers, Porfirio Rios, Jr. and Daniel Rios.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home.
