Lorraine Detmore, 90, of Midland, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, in a local nursing home. The family will have a visitation on Saturday, April 2, 2005 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at their home, 1002 Dunbar in Midland.She was born on February 27, 1915, in Galveston, Texas on her father's birthday. She graduated from Ball High School in 1933 and later attended Texas Women's University in Denton. Lorraine and her family moved from Houston in 1946 to Alvin where she lived until 1970 when she moved back to Houston to work for Dow Chemical Co. She retired from Dow in 1983. In June of 1999 she moved to Midland to be near her family. She is survived by daughters Deanna Avant and husband Dale of Oakdale, CA, Carolyn Larson and husband Allen of Midland; grandchildren, David Avant and Denise Avant of Oakdale, CA and Jeff Larson of Houston; great grandchildren, Joseph Ahrenholtz of Oakdale, CA and Brianne Ford and husband Rusty and their children Meagan & Preston of Gallup, NM; nephews, Karl Ohlhausen & Gordon Ohlhausen of Houston and one niece, Janel Garnett of Snohomish, WA. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.C. Ohlhausen of Alvin, Brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. S.G. Ohlhausen of Houston, and two granddaughters, Leslie Avant and Andrea Elizabeth Larson.In leiu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Spirit Wind c/o St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 3011 W Kansas, Midland, TX 79701.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
