Lola A. Sparks, 98, of Big Spring, died on Monday, June 7, 2010, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Sharon Wiese, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. She was born on December 8, 1911, in Victor, Texas and married Jack Sparks, Sr. on February 17, 1932 in Eastland, Texas. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1985.Mrs. Sparks came to Big Spring in 1936. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and yard work. She was a homemaker and loved to cook.She attended the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Questors Sunday School Class and had served as president of the class.Survivors include her grandson, Mark Kirkpatrick of Dickinson, Texas; three great grandchildren, Kayna Cooper of Santa Fe, Texas, Kandis Blankenship of Friendswood and Kristin Kirkpatrick of Santa Fe, Texas; two great great grandchildren, Kaylee Blankenship and Bridgett Blankenship both of Friendswood; one sister, Naomia Bauernschmidt of Squaw Valley, California; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Gallaway of San Jose, California, Fern Gallaway of Sacramento, California and Millie Gallaway of Atwater, California; numerous niece and nephews, extended family and friends. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jack Sparks, Jr.; her parents, Luther and Olivia Gallaway; six brothers, Sidney Galaway, M.L., George, Robert "Bob", Neill and Vernon Gallaway and one sister, Lottie Duval.
