Linda Dyess Sellers, 87, of Midland, Texas, passed away on October 27, 2025.
Linda Gayle Dyess was born on March 24, 1938, in Austin, Texas, to Ozelle and Leland Dyess. She spent her childhood in Gatesville, where she excelled academically, graduating as Valedictorian from Gatesville High School in 1956.
Linda met James Sellers during grade school, and their friendship blossomed into a lifelong partnership. They married on June 6, 1959, embarking on a journey built on love, faith, and service.
A talented musician, Linda started her music career playing for the chapel service at North Fort Hood military base at age 16. She served as church pianist in seven different churches in Texas and Oklahoma throughout her life, using her gifts to inspire others.
Sharing the gospel of Christ brought her the greatest joy, and she traveled around the world to spread her faith. She made numerus volunteer mission trips in the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Chili, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda .
After retiring, Linda and James dedicated themselves to full-time ministry with the Masters Program of the Southern Baptist International Mission Board. They served in Tanzania and Kenya, ministering to the Maasai people and continuing their lifelong commitment to service. After returning home, they served a short time as chaplains with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Ozelle and Lelend Dyess, and her brother, David Dyess. She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, James Sellers; her sister, Renee Owen; her sister-in-law, Judy Dyess; her children, Allison Gregory and husband, Dwayne, Joel Sellers and wife, Jami, Amber Cline, and Ashley Bryant and husband, Toby; and her grandchildren Jake Sellers and wife, Lauren, Will Sellers, Kindra Gregory, Chayton Lott, Karlee Cline, Teagan Sprayberry, Indie Mallow, Arrow Mallow, and Stunner Mallow.
