Linda Carol Kuehler Porter, 78, of Midland, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 11, 2021. Linda passed peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Linda was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on July 8, 1943 to Leonard “Lenny” Joseph Kuehler and Juanita Marie (Forehand) Kuehler. Linda resided with her family in Munday, Texas until they moved to Abilene, Texas when she was 12 years old.
Linda married Arden Porter on August 7, 1981 in Abilene, Texas. Together they raised a family of three girls and one boy. Linda’s greatest loves were her family. As her children grew and began to build their own families she transitioned into her new role as Grandmother. Every one of her grandchildren knew they were special in her eyes and carry this certainty with them to this day. One of her favorite activities was spending time with them, playing card games and attending their many sporting events. Her greatest achievement was in modeling what it meant to be a mom and grandmom.
Linda’s professional career of over 40 years was one of distinction. Her knowledge of oilfield operations and electrical needs made her invaluable and respected by her coworkers, employers and vendor partners. She knew her stuff, and when an issue arose, she was routinely the person who could figure a way out. Linda got stuff done.
Linda had a variety of interests. She would crochet, scrapbook, travel, and cook. Her favorite pastime was traveling to watch her grandchildren play sports. Her hospitality was unparalleled and anyone visiting her could count on experiencing a tasty meal that would usually end up with a guest asking for the recipe. Linda loved people. She enjoyed talking to people and lifting them up. Anyone who knows Linda saw that Nala and Sarabi, her pups, became two of the most important joys of her life. They were her constant companions and brought her great pleasure.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Juanita Kuehler and her husband, Arden Porter. She is survived by their four children, Jackie Synowski, Scott (Becky) Porter, Amy (Wes) Overton and Abby (Steve) Rowe; as well as eleven grandchildren, Scott Porter, Stephanie (Matt) Jiencke, Katie Porter, Melissa (Dax) Guetz, Spencer (Shannon) Synowski, Kassandra (Mike) Knapp, Madison (Garrett) Martin, McKenzi McAdams, Morgan McAdams, Ashton Rowe, Addison Rowe. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren (and three on the way), nieces, nephews, her sister Karen (Hal) Jones and her very special friend, Ann Chilcoat.
A memorial service will be held for Linda on Sunday, November 14th @2pm at the Branch at npw.
The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses, caregivers, church family, special friends and Hospice of Midland for their precious care of Linda during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Midland.
