Lewis Franklin “Buck” Porter

On December 1, 2023 Lewis Franklin “Buck” Porter passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully in his sleep at his home in Odessa, TX.  He is now residing in his new home in heaven.

Buck was born on July 20, 1958 in Odessa, Texas.  After graduation from Odessa High, he enlisted in the Navy.  He highly valued this opportunity.  He was deployed to the Philippines and served on board the USS Turner Joy.

Despite facing a challenging battle with several health conditions, he desired to start each day full of faith and with a positive spirit.  He had a caring heart and a wonderful sense of humor.  He was quick to share his faith and always good for a few anecdotal stories on many topics.  As one family member stated “He was a good guy with a good heart. I loved him and he sure loved his family.”  He will be missed by many.

Buck is survived by his mother, Jo Porter, two sisters, Janice Scott and Judy Miller, and two brothers, Emerson Porter and John Porter.  He was preceded in death by his father, Leon.
