Leslie Fine

Leslie Ray Fine passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Midland Memorial Hospital, Midland, Texas, surrounded by his family. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 11^th, 2023 at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Resthaven North Cemetery in Midland, TX.

Leslie was born on November 8^th, 1940 in Muleshoe, Texas to Malchus and Florence Fine.

He graduated from Three Way High School and went to work for Bailey County before moving to Midland and beginning his lifelong career with the Midland Police Department, along with his high school best friend, George (Bo) Taylor. He was a detective in the Homicide Division, and while working as a detective, he was chosen to attend the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA for training. Later he worked as a warrant officer for one of the Midland County JP courts. His wife, Theresa, also retired from the Midland Police Department with 25 years of service.

Les and Theresa loved music and going to Las Vegas. Their biggest thrill was meeting their all-time #1 favorite, Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers. Les loved any kind of music and sang in a band in his younger years.

Les is preceded in death by his wife, Theresa, his parents, Malchus and Florence Fine, brother Edward Fine, and brother-in-law Larry Dupler.

Les is survived by his son Kevin Fine of Austin, daughter Janice Woods and husband Roscoe Woods of Socorro, N.M. Granddaughter Kailyn Woods of Socorro, N.M., sister Shirley Dupler of Granbury, TX, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He is also survived by special friends and caregivers, Shauna Wills and Angel Demick. And we can’t forget his critters, Luigi and Whiskey, and his longtime neighbors Don and Rhonda Nolley. Also a special thanks to Bryce Wills for taking care of his car and keeping it full of gas.

Our family would like to express our gratitude to Midland Memorial Hospital, Dr. Bagotti, Angel’s Care Hospice, and all the sweet nurses and staff for the excellent care given to Les and the love and care shown to us.
