Leota (Lee) V. Harley, 92, of Midland, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 7:00PM-9:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 2:00PM at Christ Church Anglican with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Leota was born on August 3, 1930 to Lily Maude and John Hugh Vincent in Rogers, New Mexico. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior during her early childhood. From that day until her home going, she was a devout Christian. She taught first grade Sunday School classes for several years, including the first grade year of her twin sons, Steve and Phil.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree from North Texas College of Denton, Texas. In 1958, she married George Foster Harley, Jr., a Midland life insurance agent. She and her husband had twin sons, Steve and Phil. Leota and George raised them in the word and nurture of Jesus Christ.
Throughout her life, Leota Harley loved to sing. She often taught voice lessons to young students during the 1960’s through 1970. During this time, she was in four musical presentations at Midland Community Theater. These include the operas “The Telephone” and “Little Red Riding Hood.” She was also in two musical plays which were “The King and I” and “Camelot.” She also did musical reviews for various organizations.
Mrs. Harley also sang with Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale for many years, and she was also with the Symphony Guild. She was also a member of the Contemporary Study Club, the Midland Musicians Club and the Midland Opera Company for many years.
She is survived by her twin sons, Stephen and Philip Harley and two daughters-in law, Susie (wife of Stephen) and Jennifer (wife of Philip), and her grandson, Joseph (son of Phil and Jennifer). She is also survived by her brother Coye Vincent, and her sister-in-law Ruth Vincent.
She is preceded in death by her husband George Foster Harley Jr., her parents Maude and Hugh Vincent, her sister Eula Dean Downs, and her brother Kenneth Vincent.
