LeeAnn Kay Hedges, 62, of Midland, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 12, 2022. Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Midland.
LeeAnn was born on January 23, 1960, to John and Dolores Burke in Boone, Iowa. They moved to Denver, Colorado, where she graduated high school and met the love of her life, Chuck. They were married in Georgetown, Colorado, on February 17, 1979. After having their first child, Ashley, they moved to Midland, Texas.
LeeAnn instantly befriended everyone she met; she never knew a stranger. She was the best room mom, dug-out mom, and an even better nana. She loved making treat bags for everyone after little league and football games, sometimes even including the other team. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and the lengths she went to to make sure it was enjoyed by her friends and family were amazing. LeeAnn had a knack for making everyone feel like family, and although she had 2 children and 4 grandchildren, there were many more that called her mom or nana. She had a singular drive to give and do charitable work, including volunteering with Gifts of Hope, Midland Community Theater, and the Symphony Guild. She served on the boards of a number of PTAs, and was the president of the Abell Junior High PTA in the year that it opened. She also served on the MISD cluster committee at the invitation of Dr. Baressi and the school board.
She is survived by her husband of 43 wonderful years, Charles F. Hedges, Jr., her 2 children, daughter Ashley Garza and her spouse, Robert Garza, son John Hedges, her four grandchildren, who were her world, Josh Chandler, Joshua Garza, Colby Chandler, and Ayden Garza, her mother, Dolores Burke, her four sisters, Jeanne Burke, Lori Lietz, Carol Martinez, and Anne Burke, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, John Burke, and her grandmother, lovingly nicknamed Goose.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Nicole Shores, Randy Brown, Israel Fernandez, Chad Chandler, Robert Garza, Jeramiah Marquez, and her grandsons, Josh Chandler, Colby Chandler, Joshua Garza, and Ayden Garza.
In lieu of flowers, LeeAnn would have wanted you choose a child from The Giving Tree to dress and gift for Christmas.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences can be made at www.npwelch.com.
