Lawrence Maurice Hock, 81, of Midland went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 19, 2016. Larry was born on February 19, 1935 in Maydelle, Texas to Henry and Evelyn Hock. He grew up in the Port Arthur-Beaumont area and graduated high school in Port Acres, Texas, in 1953. At age 18 he joined the Air Force and served and lived in various places, including Turkey, Germany and the Philippines. He was transferred to Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring in 1964 and became a Midland resident shortly thereafter. Following his separation from the Air Force, he worked for Motorola Communications and Grainger, Inc. After retirement, he became an avid amateur genealogist and traveled many miles checking records and walking cemeteries to locate family members. He also loved traveling, football and singing in the choir at Alamo Heights Baptist Church, where he was a long-time member.Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years Gay Hock of Midland; sons Stephen Hock and wife Alison of New Braunfels, Tony Hock and wife Denise of Stockbridge, Georgia; grandchildren Stephanie Winnett and husband Jace, Andy Hock, Matthew Hock and wife Rachel, Michael Hock, Marcus Hock, Lacey Radla, and Brooks Radla and wife Valerie; great grandchildren Jonah Winnett, Katy Hock, Ashton Hock, Abigail Hock, and Grayden Radla; sister Sharon Hock of Thompson, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his daughters Merry Dianne Hock and Angelia Michelle Hock; his parents and four brothers.Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Murphy officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park.The family suggests memorials be made to the Alamo Heights Baptist Church, 1301 N Midland DR, Midland, TX 79707, Christmas in Action, PO Box 3744, Midland, TX 79702, or a charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland.
