Laudis Ann (Cotton) Adams, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on February 19, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 83.
Ann was born on March 29, 1941, in Jacksonville, Texas to Herman and Jessie Cotton. She graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1959 and graduated as valedictorian with a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Abilene Christian College in 1963. She worked at Gulf Oil in Midland from 1963-1973 as an Administrative Assistant before giving birth to her daughter, Anda, when she began to devote her full time to home and family. Later, from 1994 to 2006 she worked at Petroleum Strategies, where she developed a system of managing 1031 exchanges which is still in use today.
On August 29, 1970, Ann married Otis Adams. For 54 and a half years, they enjoyed a wonderful marriage in a home filled with love, great food, and hospitality. Their bridge group started as a weekly game night and developed into a cherished group of life-long friends. Ann was a devoted Christian and spent her life at the Golf Course Road Church of Christ in Midland, Texas. She taught ladies classes at church, published a women’s newsletter, and created and published a cookbook that has been used for decades by many. She and Otis moved to Fort Worth to be with family in 2023.
Ann was most passionate about loving her family. She adored Otis, who was the love of her life. She spent over 20 years battling courageously against rheumatoid arthritis and post-polio syndrome, lovingly cared for by her husband Otis. In the end, as Otis was taken by cancer, she followed him one day later into death, passing peacefully in her sleep.
She is survived by her daughter Anda, Anda’s husband Randy, and seven grandchildren, McKenna, Josiah, Luke and his wife Ashlyn, Moriah, Isaac, Malachi, and Piper. She is also survived by her brother, Mike Cotton and his wife Jo, of Lufkin, Texas, her sister-in-law Stephanie Cotton, of Fort Worth, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
Ann’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She spent her life serving Jesus and is now at peace in his presence. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and dedication to family that is a source of strength to those left behind. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A joint memorial service with her husband, Otis, will be held at Golf Course Road Church of Christ on March 1, 2025 at 2:00 pm, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her life.
