Caffey, L.C., 71, of Big Spring, died on Saturday, July 29, 2000, in a Lubbock hospital. Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 1, 2000, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Hanley Spencer, minister of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, officiating. He was born on July 25, 1929 in Brownwood, Texas and married Sara Gonzales on November 25, 1985 in Seminole, Texas. L. C. moved to the Big Spring community in 1969. He rode saddle broncs in rodeos and won many awards when he was younger. He served in the United States Army for four years. He drove a commercial bus for Continental Trailways retiring in 1989 after more than thirty years of service. He also loved working on and racing cars, traveling, fishing, and water skiing. Most of all he loved his wife and family. Survivors include his wife, Sara Caffey of Big Spring; five sons, Donald Caffey of Houston, David Caffey, Marvin Boyles and Ruben Gonzales all of Big Spring and Albert Gonzales of Midland; eight daughters, Peggy Ripkowski of Houston, Clara Woodward of California, Tammy Fire of North Carolina, Chris Cook of Oklahoma, Melinda Gonzales of Odessa, Sally Burt and Jonetta Tate both of Big Spring, and Grace Rodriguez of Coahoma; twenty-six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Dwayne Allen; his parents, David and Clara Caffey; a brother, Raymond Caffey, and a sister, Lola Cozart. The family request memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 3525 Andrews Highway Suite 111, Midland, Texas, 79703.
