Kenneth Charles Boothe met his Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 20, 2023. He was met at the beautiful gates of Heaven by his mother and father Harmon & Odessa Boothe, brother Jimmie Boothe, grandson Kolt Dwain Fox, and great-grandchildren Elijah Hope Vassar and Noah Phillip Lloyd.
He was born in Ballinger, Texas on March 16, 1945. He was raised on a dairy farm and graduated from New Deal High School in 1963. He married his high school sweetheart, April Earlene Worthan on March 2, 1963 whom he cherished and adored for over 60 years. They had 3 daughters, Veronda, Kerry, and Diane.
Kenneth was a member of First Baptist Church in Big Spring, Texas for 40 years, where he served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. He was endearingly known as “KB” by all of his Sunday School classes, family, and friends.
Kenneth wore many hats. He was a firm believer in Jesus, a consummate family man, a natural leader, and one of the hardest working men you’ll find. Kenneth cherished his family, instilling in his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids (and any others who would listen) the quintessential values of faith, family, leadership, and hard work. One of his proudest personal accomplishments was traveling to all 50 states with his wife and 3 daughters during their summers—a distance he likely covered twice throughout the years, by traveling across Texas to attend sporting events for his 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, trying not to miss a single event.
Kenneth was also an avid horseman. He raised World Champion American Quarter, Paint, Palomino, and Pinto Horses, with 10 World Grand Champion trophies, and he loved finding any excuse to be at the horse barn. He loved to travel for horse shows, with grandkids in-tow. He was an all-in-one showman, chaperone, horse trainer, groomer, and stall-cleaner, but most importantly, he was just Granddad.
He believed in working hard and playing hard. He worked 3 jobs to put himself through college and passed the CPA exam in 1973. He bought a small practice in Big Spring and moved his family in 1972 where he built a practice that after 50 years still serves a large agriculture community of 3 generations of farmers. People knew Kenneth as their CPA, financial advisor, deacon, or Sunday School teacher. His family knew him as a true patriarch who would sacrifice everything he owned for the people he loved dearly, but above all else he was just a friend for anyone who needed one, family or not. And though we look forward, with hearts full of joy, to the day that our relationship is perfectly restored in Heaven, he will be missed dearly.
Kenneth is survived by his wife April Earlene, Daughters and husbands; Veronda & Mark Vassar, Kerry & Jeff Carnell, Diane & Dwain Fox. Grandchildren and spouses; Ryan & Anna Vassar, Kristine & Jeremy Knight, Heather Vassar, Kira & Ryan Darby, Kami Carnell, Kenzi & Tyler Lloyd, Shelleyn & Abel Garcia, and Maegan & Joey Lloyd.
Great-grandchildren; Elisha, Remi, Pierce, and Amelia Vassar; Beckham, Ember, and Callen Knight; Brynlee, Braedyn, and Breckon Darby; Nathanael and Nolan Lloyd; Auri, Koda, and Monsi Garcia; Aubree and Jake Lloyd.
