Kenneth Barton Howell came into this world on January 17, 1935 and left on May 9, 2011 after 76 years of changing the world. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 12, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Lindsey, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.Kenneth was born in Holland, Texas to Morris Barton and Bernice Calhoun Howell. He married Mary Jo Lane on May 5, 1955.Kenneth worked in the oilfields as a young man and then worked at Cosden Refinery in the boilers for 13 years. He then became the business manager for I.U.O.E, Local 826. He was instrumental in gaining huge strides in worker's compensation, benefits, and working conditions. He owned H.O.S.S. Oilfield Hauling Company and finished out his working years selling cars with his sons at Howell Auto Sales. He also enjoyed playing in golf tournaments with his sons and spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories and spoiling them.Survivors include his wife, Mary Howell; one daughter, Becky Winters and husband, Roger; two sons, Gary Howell and Kim Howell, and Terry Howell and wife, Kelley; other daughter, Judy Felts; five grandchildren, Sheena Howell, Sydney Winters, Amy Winters, Hope Howell, Sam Howell; a special great granddaughter, Marin Howell; other grandchildren, Christopher Felts, Michael Partlow, and Crystal Smith; numerous other great grandchildren; one brother, Billy Ray Howell and one sister, Joyce Riddle.He was preceded in death by one son, Michael; one daughter, Cyndi Smith; grandchildren, Chad Felts, Jeremy Smith and Joshua Howell; his parents, and brothers, Melvin and Ladell.The family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 705 W.
