Katie Brown

Katie Brown, 90, formerly of Ackerly and Seminole, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2003, in a Claremore, Oklahoma hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 6, 2003 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, with Rev. Gene Hawkins, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.     She was born on November 17, 1912, in Jacksboro, Texas and married Melvin Brown on August 27, 1940 in Ackerly, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1994.     Katie was a devoted wife and companion to her husband of over 53 years. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and she loved her church, the First Baptist Church in Seminole.     Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law, Ray and Lissa Brown of Claremore, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Laura Brown, Scott Brown, and Travis Brown all of Claremore, Oklahoma; three sisters, Gracie Martin of Weatherford, Cordie Oaks of Ackerly, and Inez Bearden of Big Spring; and one brother, M.E. Dyer, Jr. of Ackerly.      She was also preceded in death by her parents, M.E. and Callie Mae Dyer and one sister, Beatrice Horne.                The family suggests memorials to: The Katie Brown Memorial Fund % Rogers State University Foundation, 1701 W.
