Charlyne Dodge, 91, of Midland, Texas, passed away on Tuesday the 27th of December. Memorial services are to be arranged. Charlyne was born on February 13th, 1931, in Fort Worth Texas to Charlie Pond and Kathryn Phillips Pond. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Charles Fremont Dodge. She is survived by her daughters Deborah Dodge Pardue and Rebecca L. Dodge, her son-in-law Jerry Pardue, her grandson Charlie Lyons-Pardue, his wife Kara, daughters Zoe and Iris, and grandson Will Pardue.
Charlyne taught high school English and drama, and College English in Arlington Texas. She retired as a textual editor at U.T. Arlington in the early 1980s and worked with her husband’s oil exploration consultancy for another 15 years. When they retired, they returned to Midland, rekindling old friendships and building a new home. She made new friends serving in the Santa Rita and En Amie Clubs. She also returned enthusiastically to her life-long love, the theater, and joined the Maverick Players. She starred in multiple comedy productions over a 17-year period.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Helen Greathouse Manor at Manor Park, to the staff and medical professionals at Midland Memorial Hospital, and to Hospice of Midland.
