Kathleen Hubbard WickmanKathleen Hubbard Wickman, 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, in Midland. Visitation will be Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Graveside services will be Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park with Rev. Bob Porterfield officiating.Kathleen was born January 15, 1919 in Truman, Arkansas to Howard Morton and Inez Campbell Hubbard. Most of her youth was spent in Paris, Texas, and she graduated from Paris High School in 1936, and Paris Junior College in 1938. She continued her education at East Texas State University, where she graduated in 1940. In 1970 she enrolled at Texas Woman's University and attended classes each summer session until earning her Masters Degree in Library Science in 1974.Kathleen had a long career as a teacher and a librarian, first teaching in small towns in Texas, including Cranfills Gap, Meridian, Chalk and Forsan, and finally as a librarian at Midland High School until her retirement.Kathleen married Woodrow Wickman on June 26, 1943, and they were married for 46 years, until her husband's death in 1989. Both were active in the lives of their children and were tireless workers with the PTA (both were life members), youth sports, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.Kathleen is survived by her son, Russell Wickman and his wife, Katie Wickman of Midland; her grandchildren, Ryan Christopher Wickman and Emily Niccole Wickman; and her sisters, Freida Watts of Midland; and Patricia Clare of Fort Worth.Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wickman; her son Philip Steven Wickman; her parents, Howard and Inez Hubbard; and her brother, Howard Morton "Buzzy" Hubbard, Jr.The family would like to thank the staff at the Amazing Grace Assisted Living Home for all the love and care they gave Kathleen the last 3 years.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made in Kathleen's name to the SPCA or the charity of the donor's choice.Funeral arrangements are under the care of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
