Julia Margaret Bonner Willis passed away Monday, October 16, 2017 in Midland, TX.The family will be receiving guests from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral Services are at 10:00am on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Westside Church of Christ with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.Margaret (Julia) was born on November 2, 1928 at home in Fisher Co, TX to Storey Wright Bonner and Fannie Rogers Nunn. She graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1946. After graduation Margaret moved to Midland, TX and went to work at Woolworth Five & Dime. During that time she met the love of her life, Dallas Leon Willis and celebrated 67 wonderful years of marriage on May 12, 2017. She was a long time member and loved her church family at Westside Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Dallas Willis and her brothers Earl Bonner and Royce Bonner and sister, Joann Leonard. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Debbi Willis, loving sons, Roger Willis and wife DeDe and Steven Willis; grandchildren, Bonnie Taylor and husband James, Jason Willis, Amber Conner and husband David, Casey Willis and wife Sarah, Luke Willis and wife April, Julia Willis, Melissa Freeman, Jon Jay and his wife Jordan and Jeremy Jay. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Krista Willis, Carissa Madrid, Jacob Conner, Aiden Alcantar, Jayden Conner, Claire Conner, Joshua Jay, Jace Jay and Dax Freeman; and her siblings Clyde Bonner, Reba Renfro and Lila Cox and husband Corky.Margaret worked for Midland ISD in the Transportation Department for 34 years, from 1968 until her retirement in 2002. In her time there, she drove a special needs bus for many years and loved the children like her own. She later became the Route Manager at the Bus Barn. Margaret had a special heart for serving children with special needs. After taking an early retirement in 2002 Margaret helped care for her oldest son, Bruce, after he suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of an auto accident. Because of her caring, loving and giving spirit she helped Debbi care for Bruce so he was able to stay at home with his family until his death in 2006. She continued caring for residents at the nursing home with the same love and attention that she gave to the special needs children and her son, Bruce until her death.Margaret and Dallas travelled extensively from Maine to California and everywhere in between and loved taking their grandkids along on their travels. Margaret loved her family and she was loved back just as strongly. Her grandchildren’s favorite thing to hear her say was “I love you more than you love me” in response to their “I love you, Grandmother.” Margaret loved to cook for her family and valued the time she spent with her granddaughters and great-granddaughters as they sat on the kitchen counter visiting with her and watching her cook. In the last several years of her life, Margaret suffered from blindness due to Macular Degeneration and you could hardly have a conversation without her yelling at you asking “HAVE YOU GOT YOUR EYES CHECKED?!?”The family would like to express their gratitude to the Westside Church of Christ and their nursing home ministry for their loving devotion to both Margaret and Dallas, and special thanks to Hospice of Midland for their care.In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Westside Church of Christ or Hospice of Midland.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
