Juan Michael Cervantes, 70, of Big Spring, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022. He will lie in state Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 8am until 9pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Rosary Service will begin at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10am Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with interment at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
Juan was born May 16, 1952 in Big Spring, Texas to Jessie (Ontiveros) and Jesse Cervantes. He was a lifelong resident of Big Spring. Juan had worked for Diamond Seed Corporation for about 11 years and for Charles Construction for 18 years. He was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. He was a baseball and football fan and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed singing to them and joking around with them. He was involved with their sporting events as well.
Juan is survived by two sons: John Cervantes and Arthur Cervantes both of Big Spring and one daughter: Christina Whitley of Stanton; 4 grandchildren; two sisters: Rosario Medrano of Big Spring and Lucy Robles of Boomer, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Martha Cervantes in 2003; two brothers: Oscar Cervantes and CQ Cervantes and one sister: Mary Helen Doporto.
Pallbearers will be Aissa Cervantes, Erica Cervantes, Michelle Irvin-Ruth, Paul Diaz, Carlos Diaz, Danny Doporto and Michael Doporto. Honorary pallbearers will be Mia Melendez, Alma Gusman and Adiel Melendez.
