Joyce Marie Brickey, cherished mother and grandmother, bade the world farewell to join her Savior on January 8, 2022. Joyce was born in Denver, Colorado on September 13, 1937 to parents Raymond and Rose Woodward. Joyce was the youngest of 5 siblings and spent her childhood living in Englewood, Colorado in a home built by her father with an attached grocery store managed by her mother.
Joyce was a hard worker throughout her life. She literally flew the nest and became a flight attendant with Continental Airlines based in Dallas. She eventually landed in Midland, Texas and began a successful 40-year career helping many families buying and selling their homes becoming quite close to many of her clients.
Joyce had many varied interests and never enough time to pursue all. She enjoyed plays, operas, cooking and gardening. She had a deep affection for all animals – especially dogs. She always had at least two dogs and felt they each had a unique God-given personality. One of her greatest pleasures in life was traveling with dear friends and family. She fondly remembered her adventures exploring New York City, Alaska, Europe and the Holy Land. She had a special love for Israel and its people.
Joyce’s greatest passion and love were for God and her family. Joyce became a believer in Jesus as a young woman. Her faith and love of the Lord grew throughout her life, bringing her great joy. She was devoted to her children – praying for them daily for God’s blessing. Known as Grammy by her 7 grandchildren, she delighted in the individuality of each grandchild. She will be missed by all her family but we rejoice knowing that she is celebrating in heaven.
