Josephine “Tiny” Calflooking Jones, a full-blood member of the Blackfeet Nation, passed away from effects of COVID on November 3, 2021. She was 92 years old.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Lee Jones, and daughter, Rita Jones Feister. She is survived by her children Donnie Joe, Dennis and Jackie; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Josephine was born September 9, 1929 on the Blackfeet Reservation, Browning, Montana. The only girl in a large family, she was known as “Tiny” by all of her brothers and everyone who knew her on the reservation. She was raised by her Grandmother near Two Medicine.
Josephine met and married Donnie Lee Jones in Great Falls, MT, then settled, farmed and raised their family in West Texas, near Stanton. She began working in the Stanton Housing Authority in 1967, and retired as the Executive Director. Everyone in Stanton knew Mrs. Jones.
Funeral Mass for Josephine Jones will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stanton on Saturday, November 6 at 10 am, followed by burial next to her husband in the St. Joseph Cemetery. She will lie in state at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton on Friday.
