Jose “Joe” Marquez, 61, gained his wings on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. Viewing will be held Thursday, March 6th from 8 am to 9 pm along with the Rosary at 6:30 pm at the Branch at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral mass will be 1 pm Friday, March 7th at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church followed by a burial at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Jose was born in Pecos, TX to Jose G. and Martha Marquez. He spent most of his youth in Midland, TX where he also raised his family. He went on to serve in the United States Army for nine years completing his service as a Staff Sergeant. He met the Love of his life in 1988 in Odessa, TX and was married for thirty three glorious years. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor in Business Administration and a minor in Information Technology. He spent the majority of his twenty seven year career proudly working for Pioneer Natural Resources (now known as Exxon) where he achieved the title of Senior Cloud Engineer. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. He had a childlike heart that was known for his signature “claw” and “guitar” gestures that gave children resounding laughter. He was welcoming and always gave advice to all that he encountered. He was a jack of all trades. His style and dance moves were unmatched. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching the Dallas Cowboys, playing golf, fishing, and eating menudo. The memories of his boisterous laugh, humor, hardworking ethic, and guidance will live on through all who knew him.
Jose Marquez is survived by his wife Dora Marquez, children, Joshua (and Jen), Jakab, Josiah, Danika, granddaughter, Ava Grace, and siblings, Martha, Irma, Sylvia, Robert, Ester, Kim.
Jose is preceded in death by his father Jose G. Marquez, his mother, Martha Marquez, sister Gloria Abella, niece, Jennifer Martinez, Godmother Gloria “Nina Loli” Dutchover, and niece Elena Corazon Marquez.
