Johnny Lee Palmer, 73, of Big Spring, died Monday, May 16, 2016 in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Jerry Dunne and Lynde Thames officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.He was born September 15, 1942 in Big Spring, Texas and married Mary Norwood Sullivan August 3, 1973 in Big Spring, Texas.John graduated from Big Spring High School in 1961 and had served in the United States Army. He worked for Big Spring Printing for 30 years and for Sierra Animal Clinic for over 15 years. He loved country music and enjoyed playing the guitar. John also enjoyed fishing, golf, traveling, casinos. He was a great cook, and loved being with all the family.Survivors include his wife, Mary Palmer; a daughter, Kim Palmer Hasty; four sisters-in-law, Mattie Norwood, Nell Thames, Sandy Norwood and Pat Palmer; a brother-in-law, James Norwood and wife, Margi; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who adored him.He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary M. Palmer; a brother, James Palmer; a sister, Fay Palmer; and a step-son, Scott Sullivan.The family suggests memorials to Happy Day Humane Society, 5710 W.
