John Walter Lindsey, 67, of Big Spring, Texas went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 12, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the Coahoma Cemetery.
John was born September 14, 1946 in Columbia, Tennessee to Leon Stanley and Louise Lindsey. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. John was stationed at Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring where he met Ann Bennett. They fell in love and married August 14, 1965. While living in Andrews, John also fulfilled a dream of owning a quarter horse ranch. In October 2010, he and Ann moved to Big Spring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Lindsey and Louise Lindsey; and a sister, Barbara McNeese.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ann Lindsey of Big Spring; a sister, Brenda Hann of Columbia, Tennessee; two sons, Johnny Jay Lindsey of Williston, North Dakota and Justin Todd Lindsey of Coahoma; a daughter, Sonya Michelle Vick and husband, David of Battlement Mesa, Colorado; and two brothers-in-law, Larry Bennett and wife, Patricia of Big Spring and Lee Bennett and wife, Betty of Sand Springs. He was also survived by grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
John faithfully served the Lord for over 40 years and was a devoted husband and father.
In lieu of flowers and food, the family asks that donations be made to the John and Ann Lindsey Scholarship Savings Account at Citizens Federal Credit Union, P. O. Box 425, Big Spring, Texas 79721-0425.
