John Ronald Johnson

John Ronald Johnson, 78, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023.

Ron was looking forward to meeting his Savior, Jesus Christ, and is now free from the bonds of this earth.

Ron was born on March 12, 1944, in Midland, Texas to Ferrol Ficke Voliva. Ron’s father died very early in Ron’s life.  Ron spent his childhood in Odessa with his beloved Aunt Bessie whom he cherished like a mother. Ron earned Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting, at age 13.  He graduated from Odessa High in 1962 and continued his education at The University of Texas – El Paso, graduating in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.  He was a member of The Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity – Alpha Phi Chapter.

Ron loved his friends like family, and as an only child, they were his family.  He had numerous friends who were very loyal to him.  Ron epitomized the saying “To have a friend – one must be a friend.”  Indeed, Ron was a true and loyal friend.  He will be greatly missed.

Ron Johnson is survived by numerous cousins including first cousins Gary Hall, Sue Ficke Seibert, Bill Dillard, John Poe, Linda Franklin, and many friends he considered family.

Ron is preceded in death by his grandmother Harriet Elizabeth McBee Ficke, his mother, and his Aunt Bessie Mae Ficke Clark
