John Richard Slawson

John R. Slawson, 84 years old, went to his Heavenly home to be with his beloved wife, Emma Lee on November 25, 2021.  A visitation will be held 5:00pm-7:00pm, Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland.  A memorial service will take place 10:00am, Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel followed by the inurnment at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Born in Carrollton, Mississippi, January 21^st 1937, he attended Cleveland Mississippi High School graduating in 1955. His college studies were at Perdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.

John met Emma Lee Hill in 1970. She had 2 children Mark and D’Lynn, he had 4 children, Cynthia, Barry, Scott, and Karen. They were married July 7^th, 1973, with a ready-made family.
John is survived by their children and their spouses, Barry & Vicky Slawson, Mark & Sandy Hill, D’Lynn & Douglas Ketterman, and Karen Kirksey & Wesley Holmes; his Sister Pauline Mullins and his brother Bill & wife Fay Slawson. Cynthia & Scott are deceased.  He also had many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

John and Emma Lee joined First Baptist Church of Midland in 1978. John’s life was a fruitful journey. He spent 60 plus years in the Natural Gas Industry eventually owning and operating his own business, Compressor Professional Inc. During these years he formed lifelong friendships.  John was a loving and humble man who never met a stranger. He was always willing to help anyone in need, be they family, friend, neighbor, or a stranger.  He enjoyed sharing his blessings but most of all he loved his Lord and Savior.  He was loved by many and will be missed deeply as he continues his journey to be with his Lord.
