John Lee Logi, affectionately known as “Sir” and “Paw-Paw” by his grandkids, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021. A visitation will be held at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Services will be at 3:00 pm on Friday, February 19 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel.
John was born January 13, 1943 in Jenny Lind, Arkansas to Louis and Marjorie Logi. Upon graduating from Greenwood High School in Greenwood, Arkansas he received a scholarship to play football at The College of the Ozarks. After 2 years he enlisted in the Air Force where he completed his basic training in San Antonio Texas before service in California and Anchorage Alaska. It was at this time when he flew back to Arkansas and married his high school sweetheart Janelle Angeletti. Once married, they drove back to Alaska and began their 55 year journey together. After John was honorably discharged from the Air Force, he and Janelle moved to Denver Colorado where he attended the University of Denver and completed his bachelor degree. John and Janelle then moved to Cody Wyoming where John began his long career in the oil industry. While in Cody, they welcomed a son, Jason, and a daughter, Andrea. In 1977 the family moved to Midland Texas where John and Janelle raised the kids and continued to live.
John was an avid golfer, a die-hard Arkansas Razorback fan, and loved sports. He coached both of his kids in softball and baseball and was fondly known as “Coach” to many of the kids he coached. He also loved to fish. He always had fishing gear in the back of the car while in Wyoming and would often go to work early so he could find time to “do a little fishing”. He would take his grandsons to any place where they could drop a line in the water and have a chance to swap stories and tell a joke or two. Through his work and his work ethics, John met many people in the oil business and long after he retired many would still call with questions, ask for advice, arrange to go have a cup of coffee, or to just talk, tell a joke, or bet on a game or two. He never liked doing business on the phone or from behind a desk, but preferred to go and see people in person, look them in the eye, and give a firm handshake. Unknown to many, John was a lover of pets and treated them just like they were his kids and grandkids.
John is survived by his wife Janelle, his daughter Andrea Royal and her husband Scott Royal of Lubbock, his son Jason Logi and his wife Gina Logi of Arlington. John has 5 grandkids: Cole Royal, Brock Royal, and Kurt Royal of Lubbock and Jordan Logi and Madison Logi of Arlington.
John was preceded in death by his father Louis Logi, his mother Marjorie Logi, and his brother Jimmy Logi.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals.
