John Lamar Bullard, 51, of Midland, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 1:00PM with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel. The family and friends will be raising a glass to John at their home after the service.

John was born on November 25, 1970 to Melba (Bonnie) and Jimmy L. Bullard in Atlanta, Georgia. John grew up in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1989. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1994. Finally John received his Masters in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in 2017.

John had worked in the Oil and Gas Industry with multiple companies since 1994, but he was petro physicist at EOG Resources for the last 5 years, his dream job.

John had been a Master Scuba diver since 1997 and was fortunate to have dove most of the major reefs around the world. John was passionate about travel and experiencing as much of the world as possible. With his loving wife of 27 years by his side, together they lived on 4 different continents and visited more than 50 countries.

John is survived by wife Ashley Johnson Bullard, son Gareth Bullard, his girls, Elizabeth Johnson and Mary Grace Johnson, his other parents Richard and Marguerite Johnson, his great nephew Greyson Holcomb, and many amazing cousins, aunts, and uncles by birth and by marriage. He is preceded in death by his parents Jimmy and Bonnie Bullard of Fitzgerald, Georgia.

I am so sorry to hear of your husband /father passing away. I graduated H.S. with Johnny and he and I both graduated GT, just in different majors. I will always remember his smile, very confident demeanor, as well as his intelligence. Again my condolences. I knew John from elementary school or possibly younger:) His dad and my dad worked together at Delco and we went to school together through graduation. He was such a great guy growing up...smart, funny and truly kind to everyone. I have no doubt he kept those qualities as an adult. Sending positive thoughts and prayers to his family.

We were friends in school. I remember him as a compassionate and funny human being. He was well liked by everyone. I was lucky to call him my friend. Sending prayers of comfort to all who loved him.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ashley and the family. John was always enthusiastic which spread to those around him.

We became fast friends when John and Ashley moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. Some people you just have that bond with, that common knowledge and zest for going and doing. He lived life and loved everyone. Wish there were more like him and Ashley. He will be missed. Ashley, don’t be a stranger. Come on down and spend some time with us…..

Dear Ashley and Gareth. I am so sorry to hear about Johnny's passing, but I am so glad that he had so many wonderful years and experienced so much joy with both of you and all the Johnson Family. I remember when he gave his heart to Jesus as a young man and I know we will see him again with the rest of our family in Christ. May God's deep, rich peace be with you during this time. Ashley, Gareth, Marguerite, Dick, Elizabeth, and Mary Grace….no words can express my sorrow. John was a remarkable young man and I know y’all will miss him as you go on without him but he will always live as long as u remember in ur heart. May God’s amazing grace bring u comfort each day and night.

I wish Neil and I could be there to comfort ya'll. We will be thinking of you/Johnny Friday and at 3ish will also raise a glass to Johnny. Can not believe it's been 27 yrs since Johnny and Ashley's wedding. Johnny was such a kind young man. We will miss him. Ashley, you are in our prayers! I know how glad you/your parents, and Gareth are all together and can learn on each other. The Johnson Family will always be mine and Neil's dear neighbors! Some of our most dearest friends! WE LOVE YA'LL!
