Joe Louis Rendon, Jr., a life-long resident of Midland, Texas died on Friday, June 11, 2021, at Midland Memorial Hospital surrounded by his wife and his children.
Joe, affectionately known as Little Joe to his family, was born on September 8, 1969, to Joe & Rosie Rendon, Sr. and was big brother to Gina, Michael and Vanessa.
Joe graduated from Midland High School in 1988 and worked for the Midland Police Department until he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He proudly served his country from 1993-1996. On June 5, 1993, he married the love of his life, Barbara DeLeon and they were blessed with three children, Alexander, Stephanie and Bryanna. After Joe was honorably discharged, they returned to Midland to raise their family.
At the time of his death, Joe was employed with Cobra Coating in Odessa, Texas. Joe’s love for baseball was evident on and off the field. He had the privilege of coaching his son, Alexander, at Eastern Little League. Thereafter, his passion became softball and he was a huge part of the softball family, not only as a player for many years, but as a coach. One of his greatest achievements was coaching his daughter, Stephanie, on many teams including the softball teams HIT Cartel and USA Team of DFW. These opportunities allowed him to travel all over the United States for softball tournaments. He was a great coach and mentor, not only to his daughter, but to many young men and ladies that he treated as his own. His presence on the softball fields will be greatly missed, but the impact he left will be felt by many and never to be forgotten.
Joe was an amazing husband to his beautiful wife, Barbara, and an amazing and devoted father to his son, Alexander and his wife, Kassie; and his daughters, Stephanie and Bryanna.
He will forever be remembered as the best “TATA” in the world to his grandchildren, Payzlee, Connor and Dallas.
He is survived by his parents, Joe and Rosie; his siblings, Gina and her husband Abel Abila from Lubbock, Texas; Michael Rendon and his husband Michael Morales from San Antonio, Texas; and Vanessa and her husband Richard Caro from Midland, Texas; his mother-in-law, Rebecca DeLeon; his sister-in-law, Nina Chavez and her husband, Edward Chavez, Sr.; and brother-in-law, Anthony Ray Mitchell, all of Midland, Texas. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his nephews and nieces, Andrew, Albert and Angela Abila, Emily and Derek Caro, Edward Jr. and Bryan Anthony Chavez, Ashley Lynne Carson, Marcus Landa, and Rebecca Ray Mitchell, along with several great-nieces and great-nephews and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Guadalupe Sr. and Feliciana Rendon, and Jose and Candelaria Rodriguez; his aunt, Elva Davila and his uncle, Guadalupe Rendon, Jr.
