Joe H. Ratliff, 92, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, February 22, 2006, in a local retirement center. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Joel Miller, pastor of North Birdwell Lane United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM TO 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.He was born on December 8, 1913, in Mills County, Texas and married Modene Singleton on August 17, 1935 in Goldthwaite, Texas. She preceded him in death on November 13, 1999.Mr. Ratliff came to Howard County in 1940 and had worked for Continental Oil Company for 37 years until retiring. He was a Baptist. Survivors include one son, Edell Ratliff of Buffalo Gap; one daughter, Omega Middleton of Moultrie, Georgia; one daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Ratliff of Fort Worth; one brother, Fadie Ratliff of Zephyr; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sons, John Weldon Ratliff and Dee Arvin Ratliff; one daughter, Blanche Miller; four brothers and two sisters.
