Jo Meador, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Big Spring, Texas on November 13, 2025. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Jo lived a long and grace-filled life, defined by love, faith, and devotion to her family.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband, James Meador, and her daughter, Lynda Proffitt, whom she now joins in eternal rest.
She is survived by her loving son, Steve Meador, and his wife Paula Meador of South Carolina. Jo leaves behind two grandchildren who cherished her deeply: Shawn Derousselle of Big Spring, Texas, and Blake Proffitt of Dallas, Texas.
Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren—Joshua Hatfield, Zachary Hatfield, Emily Dunn, and their spouses—each of whom she loved dearly and followed with pride. She was also blessed to meet and celebrate her great-great grandson, Cooper Dunn, who brought her immense joy in her later years.
Jo also shared a special bond with Viola Canales and Rose Garcia, who came into her life as caregivers but quickly became trusted companions and, in every meaningful way, part of her family.
Jo’s gentle spirit, warm heart, and unwavering love will forever be remembered by those who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with loved ones who went before her, and that her life’s impact lives on through generations.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Trinity Memorial Park to honor her memory.
May her soul rest in peace.
