A visitation will be from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 9:00am on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Resthaven Memorial Park. Memorial services will follow at 10:30am at Crestview Baptist Church with Dr. John Gerlach officiating.Jimmy Lynn Lucas was born to Jimmie and Cleo (Branham) Lucas on June 20, 1938. He moved with his family to the Greenwood Community, Midland County, in 1947. He attended Prairie Lee School, which later became Greenwood School, where he graduated from 8th grade. He then continued his education at Midland High School and graduated with the Class of 1956. After graduation, he was employed by Darrell W. Smith Core Lab and later by West Texas Electric Logistic Service in Midland. In 1961, he joined his father in farming in Midland County.He married the love of his life, Joyce Graham, on December 27, 1957. They were blessed with four children, David Lynn Lucas, Violet Elaine Golden, Stephanie Ann Stovall, and Darrell James Lucas.Jimmy had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He was a gentleman in the truest sense. A man of few words, when he spoke others listened knowing he had given thought to whatever the subject was. He was a patient man, never in a hurry. Jimmy was extremely hard-working and responsible. He was a man of integrity, fair in all his dealings. He was also very compassionate and loving.His favorite hobby was fishing until he retired from farming and took up golf with his dear friends, Merv and Bobby. He dearly loved music and his children inherited that love. He enjoyed keeping up with the grandchildren in their sports and piano and dance recitals. He and Joyce have enjoyed travels with family and friends since his retirement.He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized in 1947. Jimmy, Joyce, and their children were members of Greenwood Baptist Church where he was ordained a Deacon. They later joined Crestview Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and on several committees. Jimmy volunteered at the Baptist Crisis Center, had served on the FHA Board ASCS Committee, Director of Midland Farmer’s COOP Gin, and was Farm Bureau Director.Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Cleo Lucas, and his sister, Jo Johnson.Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Joyce Lucas; son, David Lynn Lucas and wife, Tammy; daughter, Violet Elaine Golden and husband, Marty; daughter, Stephanie Ann Stovall and husband, Bobby; son, Darrell James Lucas and wife, Nisa; sisters, Pat McMurry and husband, Dale, and Peggy Howard; grandchildren, Lynsey Hankins, Brandon Lucas and wife, Karah, Ben Lucas, Ashley LaRue, Emily Masonheimer and husband, Josh, Crystal Foley and husband, Joshua, Dallas Golden and wife, Deneille, Daniel Stovall and wife, Ashley, Matthew Stovall and wife, Kaedy, Jessica Ripley and husband, Hunter, and Keva Steen; great-grandchildren, Blaine Aker, Seth Lovett, Maki Lucas, Baylor Lucas, Sarah Masonheimer, Caleb Masonheimer, Sophia Foley, Asher Golden, Micah Golden, Graham Golden, Gunner Lucas Stovall, Maggie Ripley, Wade Ripley, Jesse Steen, Bobbie Steen, Dynver Steen, and Stovall twins due in December 2015; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.Pallbearers will be Brandon Lucas, Ben Lucas, Blaine Aker, Daniel Stovall, Matthew Stovall and Dallas Golden. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Graham, Merv Hale, Rob Fields, Roger Morgan, Dan Branham and Frank Locklar.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made by clicking the Memorial tab below.,
