Jimmie F. Samuels, 77, of Big Spring, died Friday, December 6, 2013 in a Midland hospital. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, December 9, 2013 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Randy Cotton, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, Josh Holcombe, Youth Pastor, Green Acres Baptist Church South Campus, of Tyler, Texas and Randy Samuels, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Sinton, Texas, officiatingHe was born April 26, 1936 in Breckenridge, Texas and married Carol June Lee November 9, 1996 in Abilene, Texas.He served in the United States Air Force and was an instructor at Webb Air Force Base for the T-36, T-37 and T-38 aircraft and had been named NCO of the year. After retiring he contracted with the United States Postal Service as a rural route mail carrier for 16 years and then was the custodian for his church. Jimmie was a very humble man and would never speak of himself unless asked.Survivors include his wife, Carol Samuels of Big Spring; three daughters, Debra Legg and husband, Robert of Big Spring, Pam Holcombe and husband, Steve of White Oak and Jessica DeVaney of Big Spring; one son, Randy Samuels and wife, Sherri of Sinton; a sister-in-law, Edna Burgett; nine grandchildren, Rusty Holcombe, Josh Holcombe and wife, Rachel, Bobby Legg and wife, Andi, Aline Fuselier and husband, Chris, Brett Samuels, Braden Samuels, Stetson Word, Makenzie Word and Landon Wilson; five great-grandchildren, Kierstyn and Logan Legg, Breanna Fuselier and Kaleigh and Aimey Wheeler; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Irene Gipson Samuels Smith; six brothers and three sisters.The family suggests memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
